Marvel is undertaking an internal reorganization that affects its leadership across film, television, animation, and comics. The company is reassigning key roles to enhance its creative operations on multiple fronts.

A significant update involves the advancement of the Marvel Studios head, Brad Winderbaum, who will now take charge of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics, and Franchise. In this expanded position, his responsibilities will encompass all creative endeavors, building on his previous focus on television and animation.

In addition, the former Disney executive, David Abdo, will join Marvel as the general manager for comics and franchise. Abdo’s role, which reports directly to Winderbaum, has opened following the planned departure of Dan Buckley after a long and influential 30-year tenure. Buckley’s retirement will be implemented around the middle of 2027.

The organizational updates include:

  • Brad Winderbaum’s promotion to oversee multiple creative divisions.
  • David Abdo’s appointment as general manager for comics and franchise.
  • The forthcoming transition of Dan Buckley after decades of service.

Marvel's chief executive commented on the changes by emphasizing Winderbaum’s demonstrated ability to lead creative teams and develop continuous, engaging narratives that captivate audiences worldwide. He also highlighted Abdo's strong record in operational excellence and strategic expansion, expressing enthusiasm for their combined leadership.

The executive further recognized Buckley's impactful career, noting that under his guidance Marvel expanded its cultural footprint and connected with new fans globally. The company conveyed its sincere appreciation for Buckley’s lasting contributions and acknowledged his support during this period of change.
