Recent leaks may provide an initial glimpse into the anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro design. Insights from the trusted source 'Billbil-kun' suggest a new look for the system, capturing the attention of gaming enthusiasts.
A fresh report shared on the dealabs blog reveals that 'Billbil-kun' claims to have accessed the front of the final packaging for this upcoming device. They have confirmed the name 'PS5 Pro' while mentioning that they cannot share a photo due to copyright issues. Instead, they present a basic sketch of the console.
The mock-up created above draws inspiration from this sketch as well as some accompanying textual details in the report, starting with an official image of the current PS5 Slim. According to 'Billbil-kun,' the PS5 Pro is expected to feature a design that closely resembles the PS5 Slim, showcasing a white exterior, two front USB-C ports, and a power button.
One notable design distinction between the PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro appears to be the addition of three black grooves along the sides of the console. Furthermore, the leaker speculates that the new system may be slightly bulkier than its Slim counterpart. This design evolution mirrors the transition seen from the PS4 to the PS4 Pro nicely.
Interestingly, 'Billbil-kun' mentions that the packaging they examined does not reference a disc drive. This could imply either that it supports the existing Disc Drive for the PS5 Digital Edition or that it may adopt a fully digital format. However, the latter option seems less likely due to the strong sales of numerous physical PS5 titles. We will need to wait for further developments to clarify this point.
Regarding the timeline for release, the leaker anticipates an announcement could happen as early as next month. This aligns with buzz from developers and associates at Gamescom 2024, who have reportedly been informed about the console's existence and are expecting official updates soon.
