GTA 6’s digital preload option for PS5 and Xbox start 9 days ahead of release and need 212GB of free storage space
Rockstar Games has revealed the install size for Grand Theft Auto 6 and the schedule for when players can preload the game by edition.
In a fresh blog update, the studio said digital pre-loading on PlayStation 5 will open nine days before the game’s November 19 launch, starting Tuesday, November 10 at midnight local time in each region.
For use with Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, pre-loading will begin worldwide on Tuesday, November 10 at 12AM GMT / 7PM EST / 6PM CST.
In the meantime, code-in-box editions for both consoles are expected to reach retailers starting November 12.
GTA 6 was already expected to be enormous because of its broad scope and striking features, but Rockstar has now confirmed that the preload the file size can reach as much as 212 GB, depending on the device.
This means players should leave plenty of room available if they want to start preloading as early as possible, since fitting GTA 6 may require clearing out several other games.
Along with these new details, Rockstar said it will offer an official printable Grand Theft Auto 6 cover art poster and a complimentary digital Leonida map download available on the official website on November 19 for fans.
A double-sided physical edition of the poster will also arrive soon after launch through the Rockstar Store, priced at $0.99 by itself or provided at no extra cost with any purchase from the store.
Rockstar recently shared the cinematic GTA 6 launch trailer, offering a more detailed look at the game’s story. Elsewhere, a new report suggests the The PC version may launch sometime in early 2027.
